FAQs

When will my data be available?

Your image data will be uploaded to Google Drive and an invitation to the folder will be emailed within 12 hours of your session time. Note, the images are uploaded as a FITS file type. These work natively in astrophotography processing software and are also easily converted to .jpg, .png, .tiff, etc., file formats.

What if it rains during the night of my scheduled session?

If the observatory is closed due to weather, you’ll be notified by email and your session time will be added back to your count to be used at a future date.

What if there is cloud cover during a portion of my imaging session?

If you see clouds in your images, please let us know. We will review the images and promptly credit your account for time missed during your session due to cloud cover. You can apply the credit towards future imaging sessions.

What if there is an equipment issue during my session?

If there is an equipment malfunction during your imaging session, your account will be credited for any lost session time. You can apply the credit towards future sessions.

Will the Telescope Booking Hub automatically reschedule my session due to any of the above conditions?

We can certainly help you reschedule your session! While automatic rescheduling isn't available, we'll collaborate with you to find a new time that ensures your celestial target is optimally positioned for imaging.

Can I make changes to the session date and time?

Yes, you can change the selected date and time up to 24 hours prior to your session.

Can I change the celestial object I want to image?

Yes, changes can be made to your imaging form up to 2 hours before sunset on the day of your session.

Will the Moon impact my images?

Light reflected from our Moon can impact the detail seen in some of the fainter nebula. Please review the Moon’s position relative to your target during the selected date and time of your session. Note, depending on the phase and location of the Moon, R, G, B, Ha, Oiii and Sii filters can greatly reduce the impact of unwanted light hitting the sensor. Stellarium (free) is an excellent source to check positioning.

I own a telescope at a remote observatory. Can I add it to your telescope booking hub?

Yes, we’d be happy to host your imaging sessions and schedule time for our clients on your telescope! Please contact us at support@telescopebookinghub.com for details.

Can I take images of the Moon?

Yes, the Moon is a fun and easy target to image!

Can I take images of the planets?

Our instruments excel at wide-field imaging, capturing impressive detail on celestial objects 15 arcminutes or larger. To give you a sense of scale, the Moon spans about 30 arcminutes, and many nebulae are even larger, often exceeding 1 degree (twice the Moon's apparent size). While planets can be photographed with our instruments, they are typically less than 1 arcminute and won't reveal fine details like Saturn's rings or Jupiter's cloud bands.
